ENTRANCE PERMITS – ACONCAGUA Season 2012-2013

The entrance permits for the Aconcagua must be obtained personally at the office in the city of Mendoza.

Open Hours:

From Monday to Friday, from 8am to 6pm

Saturdays and Sundays, from 9am to 1pm


Note: the office is closed on: December 25th and January 1st

From the season 2007/2008 and the following seasons, the fees will be as follows:

High Season
From December 15th to January 31st of the following year:

Mid Season
From December 1st to December 14th and from February 1st to February 20th:

Low Season

Permits Expiration
The permits expire in: 
  • Climbing: 20 days 
  • Long Trekking: 7 days
  • Short Trekking: 3 days

Permits effectiveness starts when the Aconcagua Park Ranger registers your entrance to the Park at Horcones or Pampa de Leñas.

Trekking Permit
This permit allows you to arrive only to the base camps, that is to say to 4300m over sea level. The mountaineers that would like to go higher, should get a climbing permit.
 
The entrance to the park is for over 14 years olds. Minors between 14 and 21 years old should have a parental permit.

The following routes are not permitted for trekking, they can only be entered for climbing due to their isolation and technical difficulties: Ruta de la Vieja Alta, Fondo del Valle and Plaza Guanacos..

Season Dates

The OFFICIAL SEASON is from November 15th to March 31st, for the practice of andinism and trekking. It is sub-divided as follows: 
 
High Season : from November 15th and January 31st, of the following year.

Mid Season : December from 1st to 14th; and February from 1st to 20th , of each year.

Low Season : November from 15th to 30th; and from February 21st to  March 31st of each year.
 
Winter Season : from April 1st to November 14th of each year.
It is sub-divided as follows :
 
Special Winter Season : from April 1st to April 30th. Confluencia entrance office will be open and it will be reinforced during Easter, from Maundy Thursday to Palm Sunday. The medical services will be at work too.

Restricted Winter Season : from: May 1st to November 14th each year.
 
The emergency services to the camps will be closed during this season. There only be a guard at the entrance to the park when the weather conditions and Direccion de Recursos Renovables allow it.
 
All trekking and climbing practices will be permitted or suspended by Autoridad de Aplicacion according to potentially dangerous weather conditions. Autoridad de Aplicacion may ask the expedition to be guided by registered local guides, in this case the charges will be applied to the expedition itself.
 
In case an expedition is allowed to enter the park in this season, the expedition will be charged with all the expenses of a potential rescue and evacuation.
